The 8th and final volune of the series is finally down and on ibooks for sale. It covers the many niche roles that NM has in the brain. It covers unusual uses, forgotten uses: Diamox challenge scans for vascular insufficiency or in sickle cell disease, the role of NM in characterizing all the many dementias, the differentiation between recurrent tumor and radionecrosis, etc., etc.
The Heart section is a bit more challenging, because of the inherent volatility of the subject (since NM docs/radiologists and cardiologists get along so well). It gives a historical prospective, discusses many of the miss-applied terms and concepts from early days, reviews the fastest ways to get a study done. It gives a historical review on shunt calculations, the almost defunct GBP scan, and esoteric issues like RV function. It extensively reviews myocardial viability and hits the re-discovered use of PYP for cardiac amyloidosis and the use of FDG PET-CT for cardiac sarcoid. All of this with a careful “tongue-in-cheek” attitude toward all my buddies in cardiology.
Finally, to complete the entire series, it has a chapter on lymphoscintigraphy and even one on dacroscintigraphy (the briefest of all sections).
